Sorry about the downtime. It was because Fasthosts are a bunch of shysters. I allowed my credit card to expire and and didn't renew it because I didn't want them to renew the domain name, expecting it to become unregistered and then I could sign up with a different registrar.

Wrong!

What actually happened was that Fasthosts started squatting my domain and refusing to transfer it, claiming the only way I could make it work was to pay them £5.90 to register it for another two years. I wasn't going to give any more money to a company with such blatant disregard for its customers so instead I paid Nominet to forcibly transfer the domain to a new registrar. Anyway, lesson is -- don't use Fasthosts, not only is their service very slow for pages with PHP but they'll try and steal your domain.
